Rooing & Shearing

This is Lialac after I've worked on her:)  Seventeen of my shetlands starting going 'through the rise'  in December.  I've started (my first chance) to roo the fleece from some of them.  Lialac's fleece actually came off pretty easy and what wasn't ready to come off didn't, her rump.
We will be shearing this Saturday and I have some great friends coming to help, as most of you know....shearing is an Event!
Can't wait to get ahold of all those fleeces, making room right now in my studio (garage) for their storage.
...I have plans to have some socks made this year, pretty excited about that, although they are pricey, I'm sure they will be great.

Early delivery

Well today when I went out to feed and check on my sheep, we had two additions to the flock.  Last night I had caught the ewe and thought that her udder was larger than it should be...since we were not planning any deliveries until April 1st.
....yet somewhere back in my mind I remember a ram getting in with the ewes a couple weeks before we set up the breeding groups.

Well we now have two new little ewes to add to our flock.
