Which is really early for us, but surprisingly I'm really glad that we did. Hoping to get the fleeces off before the Shetlands would be "in the rise".<p></p><p style="text-align: center;">As they were shorn just about eight of our black shetland ewes were "in the rise". Interesting how it was only those with the darker fleeces that were affected by our weather change.</p><p style="text-align: center;">We didn't have much time to notify our "helpers", area spinners but fortunately some where able to stop by and help on this day and had first pick of many beautiful fleeces.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Pictured above, our ram, Stephanite Silver is the ram we put to several shetland ewes last fall.</p><p style="text-align: center;">So we hope to have some very nice lambs from him. I just love the variation of color in his fleece. He has the Katmoget pattern, very dark grey and black in the neck and shoulder area, then changes to a bit lighter grey, yet still a very dark grey. He does have a couple of white spots on him, which show in his fleece. He also have a nice wide horn set, which cannot be seen in the photo....I was too busy trying to get a great shot of that fleece!</p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">Lambing Begins!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; We bred a few ewes that were older and couldn't support feeding twins the amount of milk that they needed, so we are supplementing them with a bottle. A few others became separated from their mothers during the birthing process and once they were rejoined together their mother didn't want them, hence they are bottle babies. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">During this time of bottle feeding it was taking me 30 minutes just to feed the bottle babies and I just didn't have that extra time at 6am in the morning when I have to be at work by 8am. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I found this great idea on YouTube so I shared it with my friend Dave L. and he </div><div style="text-align: center;">made it (quick and easy). Constantly checking on her and licking her face, which actually was a positive experience for the lamb, causing her to respond with tail wags.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The stimulation is very much like she would have received from her mother.</div><div style="text-align: center;">We have hopes to take her back into the barn this week, temperatures are to be much kinder and under a heat lamp if needed. We will see if Mom will accept her back, we are hopeful.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02284823487042906478noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5618368930173063038.post-31843237164588728472022-03-05T17:49:00.001-05:002022-03-05T17:49:38.954-05:00Post Shearing Day and continued fleeces sales...<p style="text-align: center;">We had a great day today Shearing our Sheep.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Thanks to everyone who came out and helped, many hands make light work! </p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiNwy9-bLj6emxynA07JWC-eNUo2Lp4o-rrTlcYTa-s3AXhZs3b8q1O3aXzDqRpIO-6sKCHz6CkgufOyHXSQ7YeCRoXqhRLzezcFYDY13xxdv-PHt8IscEASQARKfe99Iy0cjY3qIrdmjS3uOCQ-Jyn66wrxKlnkVNTX_CXGRS5bKi1l7Y_Q_xnT4aM=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiNwy9-bLj6emxynA07JWC-eNUo2Lp4o-rrTlcYTa-s3AXhZs3b8q1O3aXzDqRpIO-6sKCHz6CkgufOyHXSQ7YeCRoXqhRLzezcFYDY13xxdv-PHt8IscEASQARKfe99Iy0cjY3qIrdmjS3uOCQ-Jyn66wrxKlnkVNTX_CXGRS5bKi1l7Y_Q_xnT4aM=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgE8sHri3WMFuR8yFEX6qzloc4vD0omBJE9LBJb1Jy8Qn47F30NUQ1KcNJOJzS0AqxM2tvTue6988Mlf_im1dxGgGYsQOj708OIoY8ZCfBlIBocjQzdAqkMMORuq9xWmZeIulUskFhPODH7scHP00nHRw2wWBpFyrPI94PpYELyPryRVgqcaKtlNsfn=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgE8sHri3WMFuR8yFEX6qzloc4vD0omBJE9LBJb1Jy8Qn47F30NUQ1KcNJOJzS0AqxM2tvTue6988Mlf_im1dxGgGYsQOj708OIoY8ZCfBlIBocjQzdAqkMMORuq9xWmZeIulUskFhPODH7scHP00nHRw2wWBpFyrPI94PpYELyPryRVgqcaKtlNsfn=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br />We began shearing at 8am and finished up about noon.<p></p><div style="text-align: center;">We even had three that we were able to Roo.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Many fleeces were sold today fresh off the sheep but we do still have about 30 left.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Several black, a few white, a few grey and several brown or brown based colors.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">We will still be available Sunday, March 6th if anyone would like to come and we what we still have available to purchase.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Contact me directly via my email address so I can provide more details if you would like to vist.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj6Y-iBandBMdGSli52Bm6G4Tgv-TMaKqYu_SY8AAWHyI-veWGXQ_OmnCfKWk_syvreUA1r79lmZOQnIhsh5W3HR1JVZGOnt8lp01YEdMZgSMiN5V_dyHpY-jCp76ySHev80WG7I1_HmJWpCXWqPp72BAXYfPmhGCWC40ga-500F6SHVlzMhNlgkv3D=s3264" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj6Y-iBandBMdGSli52Bm6G4Tgv-TMaKqYu_SY8AAWHyI-veWGXQ_OmnCfKWk_syvreUA1r79lmZOQnIhsh5W3HR1JVZGOnt8lp01YEdMZgSMiN5V_dyHpY-jCp76ySHev80WG7I1_HmJWpCXWqPp72BAXYfPmhGCWC40ga-500F6SHVlzMhNlgkv3D=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">These are the rams we currently have in our flock.</div><div style="text-align: center;">The two in the bottom left side are the newest additions.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I plan to share a post on them in the future.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgW0ERdIgov_1r54hUPO7d79dwBkw4J_WF7e3pdrlrFkHty6jH5H2gijI1eNrjI9vjDwSxmus-JohLSh58Wlp-6d84zpq2l3M1lvUxVzpk91dMKRgYmGYLhvXZ19GoO-_D9iPHNdmynnwrj4vE50DfMUJoI-SsSJFIUK9v6325NRNyYrkYeBu6eoMSJ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgW0ERdIgov_1r54hUPO7d79dwBkw4J_WF7e3pdrlrFkHty6jH5H2gijI1eNrjI9vjDwSxmus-JohLSh58Wlp-6d84zpq2l3M1lvUxVzpk91dMKRgYmGYLhvXZ19GoO-_D9iPHNdmynnwrj4vE50DfMUJoI-SsSJFIUK9v6325NRNyYrkYeBu6eoMSJ=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">We also had a new addition to the flock during our shearing. Many were cross bred this year, which just broke my heart to do BUT we already have too many sheep right now and I know come spring when lambs are born....I will want to keep more of them.</p><p style="text-align: center;">So (generally) my rule is that "anything that is born as a "crossbred" is sold. Doing this helps to pay for everything else that goes on pertaining to the sheep.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">This year we used <a href="http://www.mtn-niche.net/NASSA/nassa_pedigree.php?pregno=S44531">Diamond Fred</a> . Fred has already left to go to his new home so he can produce some superfine lambs in the future for another Shetland breeder. Fred was put to about 10 ewes here at our farm so we hope to have some nice lambs from him in the spring.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.mtn-niche.net/NASSA/nassa_pedigree.php?pregno=S53267">Moogega</a> was also used this year, he also had about 10 ewes. Moogega is part of our 4 year long "let's create spots that stay" program. It's been fun and we've finally gotten spots!</p><p style="text-align: center;">All the remaining ewes were crossbred and this was hard because so many of them have nice fleeces and I would have loved to see what we could have done breeding them pure, be like I've said, If I breed them pure then I'll want to keep them and I just can't! </p><p style="text-align: center;">So many ewes were crossed with my Border Cheviot X Shetland ram.</p><p style="text-align: center;">As I mentioned, we Sold Diamond Fred and we also sold Shamus, which allowed room to add two up and coming ram lambs.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Meet:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyHyj9AyCsCwcum2klv96pixXt1yJHzPB3iL56VfeykBvPMHqMMqp4xmzlttg2RZzL9lEYUanG6hZ5DCs33NTw8ji2e7ge80-o6t4hGpWN-7wTTb1GXXI-h0KYz99bvsgSS2vmBoMcELE/s2048/20211119_063434.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyHyj9AyCsCwcum2klv96pixXt1yJHzPB3iL56VfeykBvPMHqMMqp4xmzlttg2RZzL9lEYUanG6hZ5DCs33NTw8ji2e7ge80-o6t4hGpWN-7wTTb1GXXI-h0KYz99bvsgSS2vmBoMcELE/w400-h300/20211119_063434.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSDBMxoMz4RBxb3Bdw8FCcv3dvkjk-qw_HNONl3t5cpjUCPeiEB8S-PfXdTaFMQUkRL6bLRmGw2b8uO7qe6C4-ZKHxAfaUBdmchIJsiW_saFY-0f7zSVSg-B8Rq-pkErXagW7kgNK0lcU/s2048/20211119_063421.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSDBMxoMz4RBxb3Bdw8FCcv3dvkjk-qw_HNONl3t5cpjUCPeiEB8S-PfXdTaFMQUkRL6bLRmGw2b8uO7qe6C4-ZKHxAfaUBdmchIJsiW_saFY-0f7zSVSg-B8Rq-pkErXagW7kgNK0lcU/w300-h400/20211119_063421.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim34m210dWS1pnLAgL5RfwpMeWy0Z9XCMfm37Tv7ON3wAHQU2KeALi2u8pGUFpOj2x6I_LkA4XVLIPGHxWWeE6gdiJTzHVSJpILN0u-KLnC-8TwOJrV6QG20MmtVSczLFsFOJL7vs2Wys/s2048/20211119_063320.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim34m210dWS1pnLAgL5RfwpMeWy0Z9XCMfm37Tv7ON3wAHQU2KeALi2u8pGUFpOj2x6I_LkA4XVLIPGHxWWeE6gdiJTzHVSJpILN0u-KLnC-8TwOJrV6QG20MmtVSczLFsFOJL7vs2Wys/w400-h300/20211119_063320.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><b>Stephanite Silver</b><br /><br /></td></tr></tbody></table>This is a striking black katmoget ram lamb. As this ram has grown we have watched his coloring lighten up to what it is now and I think he has the flecket pattern around his neck/shoulder area. He does have the spotting also, as you can see on his hind leg. Needless to say, I think he is a very interesting ram. Generally the one who runs away, surrenders or loses the battle (hopefully without injury) is then moved down a rank within their hierarchy.</p><p style="text-align: center;">It seems a little early in the year for this to begin but here goes....</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; We sold out of all the fleeces that we took to the event and my shelves look a little bare here at home, aside from some lovely combed top that is still available.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Another sixteen pounds or so was sent out to Zeilingers for processing into combed top, we should have this back in a few months.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Below, our Guild's June Dye Day, anyone who wanted had the opportunity to try their hand at dyeing wool, using various techniques.</p><p style="text-align: center;">I must say I do enjoy skillet dying, three of the pieces of combed top were dyed in the skillets, nice variation of colors and no two are alike.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1lHwbXn0FiJIcbcdLI5rJIgGu5BJq8R_MBqrKmPCs8hmlqmPuNIFYHyx7qSEfzV5OyG34d3IXpZn8-Zfi5XJUShU0w0BFveNNAqNIirteGXbhEyx6xTuV-AfqgBOrj0rwnXs7_hmz4eU/s2048/20210619_133333.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1lHwbXn0FiJIcbcdLI5rJIgGu5BJq8R_MBqrKmPCs8hmlqmPuNIFYHyx7qSEfzV5OyG34d3IXpZn8-Zfi5XJUShU0w0BFveNNAqNIirteGXbhEyx6xTuV-AfqgBOrj0rwnXs7_hmz4eU/w300-h400/20210619_133333.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">We've wean all our lambs and our little boys are ready to go to new homes. This is just a pre-view of some of the young ram lambs that are available. We are ahead of schedule from past years. The youngest, a set of twins are a bit young, so I will pull them out of the weaning pen so they can nurse from their mom and we'll just have to watch and see how they do. But all the others are old enough to sustain themselves.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYCnT6pPjyh556pnQce-xlaY_ttb89BTFqxZJZ_p-1GhQjfgW5t36JrOKreLn-Ij9doPZjVzm-zbBC-NeKPS-Wn5x8n3FggX_-g7JwQGFjaOpFsi1YnvnLEPsCCGGi-mrINCi_aTVr6Yc/s2048/20210501_130052.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYCnT6pPjyh556pnQce-xlaY_ttb89BTFqxZJZ_p-1GhQjfgW5t36JrOKreLn-Ij9doPZjVzm-zbBC-NeKPS-Wn5x8n3FggX_-g7JwQGFjaOpFsi1YnvnLEPsCCGGi-mrINCi_aTVr6Yc/w400-h300/20210501_130052.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">It's a bit noisy today, but most are doing well. All of them are eating a lamb grain ration and hay.</p><p style="text-align: center;">We will have ewes, yearlings and lambs available to purchase soon. Once all the lambs are weaned and have transitioned over to their grain/hay ration and the ewes have dried up from making milk they will be ready to go to new homes.</p><p style="text-align: center;">If interested, shoot me an email so we can help you find what you're looking for.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrAqvFn8Z__W4yKnDJwDb78CrAAKlrW5hRL3Vk7WDWLZdkxi_xNTxetQ2GOYObHldCUe7_tQerQhCbq5bMi3h9h3HEMes7_MpqzpSuYnq9v2Dpmq47DOyc7hf332HgQga2r5EE_jHs7g8/s2048/20210501_074050.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrAqvFn8Z__W4yKnDJwDb78CrAAKlrW5hRL3Vk7WDWLZdkxi_xNTxetQ2GOYObHldCUe7_tQerQhCbq5bMi3h9h3HEMes7_MpqzpSuYnq9v2Dpmq47DOyc7hf332HgQga2r5EE_jHs7g8/w300-h400/20210501_074050.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">Some of these little porkers are doing quite well. As I was in the barn feeding the sheep that morning I had called our vet to make arrangements to take Red in to have him put down. As I walked from the barn to the house this "old guy" was standing off to the side of the house. He was so thin, I put some food out for him and left him alone.</p><p style="text-align: center;">We had so much to deal with yet in getting Red into the vet office that I figured if he ate he would be here later. I just hate it when people dump off animals!</p><p style="text-align: center;">These photo's were taken late afternoon of the same day, he did come back and we fed him again. I don't think that he would have survived much longer. He didn't react or respond to anything. He simple ate the food and started to wander off. His sense of smell works and I got his attention with a piece of cheese (which was Red's favorite treat!). We put a collar (not Red's) and leash on him.</p><p style="text-align: center;">He has been a good distraction for us, someone to care for.</p><p style="text-align: center;">These photos were taken 4/10/21.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5Jdfp7Ev7EetimmeNqnz3nvgR2yAwIVeOacRcocMWM2rM-EkJhDfp0Ra1MwbAZJHPMI2OCpf1QEQeAy4uPc2iHxao21aodFAFuASCkQ14bgp-tbG64LgDA0AY6O9mlpJZwHEuq2C6EEQ/s2048/20210410_164129.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5Jdfp7Ev7EetimmeNqnz3nvgR2yAwIVeOacRcocMWM2rM-EkJhDfp0Ra1MwbAZJHPMI2OCpf1QEQeAy4uPc2iHxao21aodFAFuASCkQ14bgp-tbG64LgDA0AY6O9mlpJZwHEuq2C6EEQ/w300-h400/20210410_164129.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWG_BgEQhpUG9wtGFNBLn5xj0GnQeYv3ypq22fM0Aiecj3GJ6atGf7URs1Cdi7WOOrn6wZajEalP1GxQElhNK0uF4gqCjBIBDIUHHetqPr8vleN4Tl3C2oE4kJMwQijFXN6H6vKTQNc8M/s2048/20210410_164134.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWG_BgEQhpUG9wtGFNBLn5xj0GnQeYv3ypq22fM0Aiecj3GJ6atGf7URs1Cdi7WOOrn6wZajEalP1GxQElhNK0uF4gqCjBIBDIUHHetqPr8vleN4Tl3C2oE4kJMwQijFXN6H6vKTQNc8M/w300-h400/20210410_164134.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwDQBNlQDHFGeXWCSVd-N8TqBs2bEJJpby8AX1uRB6pNq4nKkYFmIfjob_64IcJI329EWzARs0ZMGsNHpNffDvT8Xs4M-v-UKrPcIHNeHihE7Yd34He3WyquWp7PqaTqVZWcsisXvPOXk/s2048/20210410_164142.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwDQBNlQDHFGeXWCSVd-N8TqBs2bEJJpby8AX1uRB6pNq4nKkYFmIfjob_64IcJI329EWzARs0ZMGsNHpNffDvT8Xs4M-v-UKrPcIHNeHihE7Yd34He3WyquWp7PqaTqVZWcsisXvPOXk/w400-h300/20210410_164142.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">We've taken him to the vet, he has a very bad ear infection and looks like it has never had any care or treatment. So I wanted to review my data and recall all the breeding groups I put together along with the newest micron data I recently received back on a my yearling ewes.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEWctqYltasd9VLOCryYbA9O7jKf5uVzFrB4kVOoJdetH0gFltv2aBNQKOXd9-YgZ3AO2gijl3ihqLiabCyJFx4YOzkPq85bF0YE9mHU1UnLwCKTM-18LNG-mkopT8EYbSnGdrh8wi4Gk/s2048/20210124_141215.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEWctqYltasd9VLOCryYbA9O7jKf5uVzFrB4kVOoJdetH0gFltv2aBNQKOXd9-YgZ3AO2gijl3ihqLiabCyJFx4YOzkPq85bF0YE9mHU1UnLwCKTM-18LNG-mkopT8EYbSnGdrh8wi4Gk/w400-h300/20210124_141215.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>Our first expected lambing is March 1st. We expect to have all lambs born within three weeks of this date, since we only kept our breeding groups together for three weeks last fall.<div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii-OK2X1JyJUmg97jVkFU3vs4swqebTqxZucYM2vHNDgUAmrsrhhtHb-zZU2qG4LsbRIPQm1HFuhqtIu6LO1rCJ6IEs0HUhAgChrngAPMffHwUW4WjMMpQbF4R_LCt9diB-xqm0qXDpII/s2048/20210124_141547.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii-OK2X1JyJUmg97jVkFU3vs4swqebTqxZucYM2vHNDgUAmrsrhhtHb-zZU2qG4LsbRIPQm1HFuhqtIu6LO1rCJ6IEs0HUhAgChrngAPMffHwUW4WjMMpQbF4R_LCt9diB-xqm0qXDpII/w400-h300/20210124_141547.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>I've kept fleece samples of my yearling ewes that were micron tested. #208 Zinnia, a white ewe. I was very pleased with her dense fleece type and micron results, micron average 21.4, and look at that length. I have repeated this breeding, hoping for more of the same.</div><div><br /></div><div>Rams #234, Moogega is another surprise, I really didn't expect him to get a ram this fine out of his sire, his micron average, 21.6. I also repeated this breeding.</div><div><br /></div><div>The other yearlings micron averages were #212-25.8, #211- 23.6, #210 - 26.3, #209 - 27.2 and #203 - 25.2. All very nice, and really expected as we used some rams that had micron much higher than we really wanted, but DID have fleece patterns that we are trying to bring out.</div><div><br /></div><div>On another note, we do have our shearing day scheduled for Friday, March 5th. Anyone who spins wool, has bought fleeces from me in the past or would like to experience a shearing please contact me and we will try and make arrangements so you can get a "first pick" on fleeces or just the experience.</div><div><br /></div><div>We plan to begin shearing in the morning, but I do plan to have an open house on Saturday, March 6th for anyone who would like to come and purchase raw fleeces. We have about 70 sheep here and they are all coated....meaning we have clean fleeces!!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Groups or Guilds are welcome!</div><div>Email me directly to make arrangements.</div><div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p></div>Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02284823487042906478noreply@blogger.com0
